The Awesome Baker

March 1st: I can’t decide which I’m more grateful for — the person who invented Colossal Reese’s Pieces Chocolate Chip Cookies or my friend, the awesome baker, who makes them.  Or better yet, that I’m the benefactor of such yummy cookies.  Today I went home with 4 of these cookies.

The awesome baker knows of my affection for cookies, or rather my obsession.  She keeps mini bags of cookies stored in her freezer and it’s not uncommon for her to bring a bag over to my house, to gift them to me on a special occasion, or to send me home with a bag when I’m visiting.

A month ago I set a goal with my accountability group to eat no desserts except at my monthly book club meeting.  I lasted a week.  This is such an unreasonable goal for someone with a weakness for cookies and an awesome baker for a friend.

Chocolate chip cookies used to be my favorite and a love I share with my brother.  Once we even talked about touring the U.S.to find and rate the perfect chocolate chip cookie.  But let’s not overlook Peanut Butter based cookies.  I will go to great lengths for the Colossal Reese’s Pieces Chocolate Chip Cookies and a close second, Buckeye Brownies.  I’m salivating just thinking about them.

I could go on about cookies, but really what touches me most is  that my friend, the awesome baker, makes these cookies with me in mind.  When she gives me cookies for my birthday I know she’s doing so because she knows how much I love them.  Those cookies are made with love, love for me.

The cookies I went home with today were made with her grandchildren in mind, but hey, I know thoughts of me were in there somewhere.  Maybe somewhere in the 1 cup of light brown sugar.

You really are the reason I make them. I’m glad they make you happy and feel loved. ❤
