About Lauran

IMG_0516In 2008, desperate for something colorful and alive in my atrium garden, I planted a packet of seeds for flowers that attract butterflies.  I knew nothing about Milkweed plants or Monarch butterflies.  I subsequently forgot about it, that is until May 2009 when the flowers blossomed.  As promised, I had butterflies.  And then caterpillars.  Lots of them.  And they ate all my flowering plants.  Then there were chrysalises and finally new butterflies.  My research began and without intending to I became a Monarch farmer.

As I observed the Monarch’s extraordinary metamorphose from egg to caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly my ideas about change started to evolve and my self, always living in either the past or future, connected with the wonder of what was happening in my atrium in the here and now. Transformations of my own soon followed.

Musa de la Mariposa was created to share stories, information and musings inspired by the butterfly.
