May 13: I have to brag about my husband. He has many hidden talents and one is his ability to replicate a dish that inspires him. The first time was Osso Bucco. He saw a chef make it on TV and the next night we had it for dinner. I didn’t even know what Osso Bucco was until then. It was yummy and I’ve ordered it several times since in restaurants.
These bursts of inspiration happen only a few times a year at most; my husband is not someone who cooks regularly. Sometimes he prepares the recipe as written; sometimes he embellishes. Often it’s a singular event.
A few days ago my husband asked what time I’d like to have breakfast on Saturday (today). Normally we fend for ourselves for breakfast so I knew something was up. But he would not confide in me the details looking instead like the cat that swallowed the canary. Last night’s trip to the grocery store revealed strawberries, bacon, english muffins. No doubt eggs would be involved because my husband loves eggs. Eggs Benedict perhaps? I went to bed curious and woke up to this beautiful presentation of Eggs in a Cloud, a Pinterest recipe my husband saw on Yahoo news a few days ago. The eggs were a work of art, something to be admired instead of eaten. The photos don’t even do the dish justice. But alas, one has to eat breakfast, and I can honestly say eggs were as good as they looked. I keep telling my husband he should be a chef in his next life.
I’m grateful for these moments of culinary inspiration. I enjoy seeing my husband’s creative side. Often the results are fun and clever as well as yummy. Being the benefactor of his culinary moments makes me feel special. He made this dish for me.

Looks delicious!
There’s a chef’s position opened here at my house! The current chef is not all that good and working under duress! 😂😂😂
How fabulous. Mark could definitely have a second career—in THIS life! Lucky you.
