Motion

July 22: I’m still working on the conceptual photography course.  This lesson involved words.  Themes are revealed in 25 minutes of journaling.  One is selected and then flushed out referencing definitions, synonyms and antonyms.  Then you create a map of metaphors, one of which becomes the subject of your photo.

Energy has been on my mind; the energy used to keep emotions inside (negative) vs the energy used to express them (positive).  They’re both difficult.  It’s hard work keeping everything locked inside and hard work opening up and putting yourself out there.  But the results are different.  One restricts and drains, the other inspires and is often the source of creativity, new ideas, and connection.

Motion shifts energy.  Instead of keeping my arms close to or across my body I need to reach out as if to embrace someone or something, reach up as if to send or receive, and move them around in dance to express joy.

This was an interesting exercise and I’m grateful I made time to work on it today.
