Banff

March 14th: I’m not a skier which makes snowbound vacations not so high on my list.  But I never pass up an opportunity to go on a trip with a group of friends and this group of friends is a lot of fun to travel with.  I did give skiing the old college try, going out with everyone on the first day.  I skipped the bunny slope warm up and went with the group, which consisted of much better skiers than I, to their warm up slope, an intermediate slope, and freaked out when I got off the chair lift.  I retired my skis when I got to the bottom.  But it didn’t matter because Banff offered a wide variety of other winter activities and our group wanted to try them all.  Curling, dog sledding, hiking in the snow, ice skating on a frozen lake, being with friends, and making new friends all made this 2009 trip to Banff one of my favorites.  I’m grateful for it all.
