A year ago today I was in Urbina Bay on Isla Isabela in the Galapagos Islands having my picture taken with 2 Giant Tortoises. You know the moral of Aesop’s fable The Tortoise and the Hare? Slow and steady wins the race. A more current translation of this moral is to work slowly but consistently at a challenging task; working too fast will cause you to tire out. We have to work so fast these days just to keep up with the demands of daily life, to get the next product out the door, to stay one step ahead of the Jones’. At some point you have to say enough is enough. What I miss the most about my trip to the Galapagos is the slow pace and the calming affect it had on me. I’m on a journey to find that peace of mind again. Maybe I should take a lesson from the tortoise.
